2. General

TrialGuard is an Android app for managing free trials, subscriptions, memberships, and contracts.

The app was developed according to the principle of data minimization. No user account and no login are required to use the basic functions. Your self-created trial, subscription, and contract data are stored locally on your device. Vantaguard does not operate its own server to which these entries are uploaded or synchronized.

3. Locally Stored Data

Depending on what information you enter in TrialGuard, the following information in particular may be stored locally:

  • Name of a service, product, or contract
  • Category of the entry
  • Type of entry, for example, free trial, subscription, or contract
  • Start date
  • End date or next renewal date
  • Trial duration
  • Price or costs after the trial
  • Billing cycle
  • Reminder times
  • Cancellation or contract notes
  • Status of the entry, for example, active, expired, or canceled
  • Language settings and other app settings

These data are located in your device's local app storage and are not automatically transmitted to Vantaguard.

4. No User Account and No Cloud Synchronization

TrialGuard does not require a personal user account. There is no synchronization of your trial, subscription, or contract data with a Vantaguard server. Your entries remain on the device on which you created them.

This also means:

  • Vantaguard cannot view your local entries.
  • Vantaguard cannot restore lost or deleted entries.
  • After deleting the app or the app data, locally stored entries may be permanently lost.
  • There is currently no cross-device synchronization.

5. Local Notifications

TrialGuard can use local Android notifications to remind you of upcoming deadlines or renewals. For this purpose, the app requests – depending on your Android version – the permission to display notifications.

The reminders are scheduled locally on your device. The associated trial, subscription, or contract data are not transmitted to a Vantaguard server for this purpose.

You can manage notifications at any time:

  • disable them within TrialGuard, or
  • manage them in the Android system settings for TrialGuard.

Delivery may be affected by Android, power-saving settings, or manufacturer-specific background restrictions.

6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

TrialGuard offers optional premium products. These may include monthly or annual subscriptions as well as a one-time lifetime purchase. Purchases are processed via Google Play. To manage and verify purchases, TrialGuard additionally uses the service RevenueCat.

In connection with purchases, the following information in particular may be processed:

  • purchased product
  • Product ID
  • purchase and subscription status
  • purchase history
  • renewal and expiration status
  • transaction or receipt information
  • anonymous technical app user ID
  • platform and operating system
  • technical information necessary to provide and restore a purchase

TrialGuard does not receive complete credit card or bank details. The actual payment processing is carried out via Google Play.

RevenueCat may process data in countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area. According to the provider, customer data is stored, among other places, via Amazon Web Services in the USA. For international data transfers, the contractual and technical safeguards specified by the provider apply.

Further information can be found in the privacy policies of:

The legal basis for purchase-related processing is, where applicable, the performance of a contract pursuant to Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and compliance with legal obligations pursuant to Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

7. Restore Purchases

Using the "Restore purchases" feature, TrialGuard can retrieve the current purchase and entitlement status from Google Play and RevenueCat.

No locally stored trial, subscription, or contract data is transmitted during this process. Only the purchase data required to restore and verify the premium status is processed.

8. Feedback and Contact

TrialGuard offers a way to prepare feedback or a support request. The following information may optionally be used:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Message or feedback text

The app opens the email application set up on your device for this purpose. The message is only sent when you explicitly confirm it there. TrialGuard does not automatically transmit or store your feedback.

If you contact us by email, we process the provided information solely to handle your request. The legal basis depends on the content and is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. The data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer required for processing and no statutory retention obligations prevent it.

9. External Links

TrialGuard can open links to external websites, for example to:

  • the TrialGuard privacy policy
  • the TrialGuard help page
  • Google Play
  • the app's rating page

When you open a link, you leave the app. The respective operator is responsible for data processing on the destination page.

10. Deletion of Your Data

You can delete locally stored entries directly within TrialGuard.

All locally stored app data can also be removed by:

  • clearing the app data of TrialGuard in the Android settings, or
  • uninstalling TrialGuard.

Purchase data processed by Google Play or RevenueCat are subject to the retention and deletion policies of the respective providers. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete your purchase history on Google Play.

11. Recipients of Data

Your self-entered trial, subscription, and contract data are generally not transmitted to Vantaguard or other recipients.

When using in-app purchases, purchase-related data may be processed by the following providers:

  • Google Play or Google
  • RevenueCat, Inc.
  • technical service providers used by these providers

If you contact us voluntarily, data may also be processed by your email provider.

12. Storage Duration

Locally stored entries remain stored until you delete them yourself, clear the app data, or uninstall TrialGuard.

Support and feedback messages are only stored as long as necessary to process the request or to fulfill statutory retention obligations.

Purchase and transaction data are subject to the storage durations of Google Play and RevenueCat, as well as any statutory retention periods.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Insofar as the legal requirements are met, you have in particular the right to:

  • information about the processing of your personal data
  • correction of incorrect data
  • deletion of your data
  • restriction of processing
  • data portability
  • objection to certain processing
  • withdrawal of a granted consent with future effect

Since your trial, subscription, and contract data are stored exclusively locally on your device, Vantaguard has no access to this data. You can delete this data directly within the app or via the Android app settings.

Inquiries regarding data processed in connection with purchases can be directed to support@vantaguard.de.

14. Right to Lodge a Complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates applicable data protection law. You can address the supervisory authority responsible for your place of residence or the registered office of the controller in particular.

15. Data Security

TrialGuard stores your entries in the local app storage of Android.

The security of this data also depends on the security of your device. We therefore recommend:

  • using a screen lock,
  • updating Android regularly, and
  • not passing the device on to third parties unprotected.

Complete security of electronic systems cannot be guaranteed.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This privacy policy may be updated if TrialGuard is further developed, receives new functions, or if legal or technical requirements change. The current version is published at the following address: https://vantaguard.de/trialguard-datenschutz.html
